Wet collodion on metal plate
Process from 19th century
Step into the enchanting world of Søren Sol, the creative force behind the Danish Drone/Roots project, LOS. Known for his multi-instrumentalist talents and deep-rooted connection to Nordic shamanic traditions, Søren Sol's musical journey is nothing short of mesmerizing.
I had the immense privilege of capturing Søren's essence through the timeless art of wet plate collodion photography. As the chemistry and silver plate united, it was as if we embarked on an inner journey, just as his music weaves around the four elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.
Søren's connection to the ancient and the trance-like energy is palpable, much like the musical realms of Dead Can Dance, Wardruna, Heilung, and Popol Vuh. With every exposure, I aimed to capture the raw, haunting, and authentic force that is Søren's presence.
Solblót's debut album is a testament to the depth, feelings, and moods he weaves into his music, open for each listener to interpret. Collaborations with remarkable artists like Danny Woe from Woebegone Obscured and Maria Franz from Heilung have added unique dimensions to the project.
It's an honor to have translated the essence of Søren Sol's musical journey into the art of wet plate collodion photography. Just as LOS immerses itself in ritual rhythms and shamanistic vocals, this portrait encapsulates the timeless connection to our deep roots.
Here's to the convergence of art and music, embodied in the captivating portrait of Søren Sol, a true Nordic visionary.
